Forklift Operator

Operates forklift and transports goods, store crates/containers, pulls materials, loads and unloads supplies.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  1. Operates a 4K to 15K manually controlled gasoline, diesel, electric or liquid propane gas powered Material Handling Equipment (MHE) daily to transport goods, store crates/containers.
  2. Pulls material for outbound loads of various kinds in the warehouse, manufacturing plant, or other establishments.
  3. The forklift operator must be trained and certified in forklift operation.
  4. Must wear all protective equipment required by department.
  5. Must follow all company policies and procedures including departmental safety policies.
  6. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Tinker Box Reclamation only:

  • Loads and unloads fiberboard and wood SPI containers and material onto GFE vehicle conveyances.
  • Must perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) of forklifts within the operational servicing requirements and sign the Form 1800 Daily Vehicle Inspection Card (Form 1800 Daily Vehicle Inspection card is a monthly inspection card). At the end of the monthly inspection period, all inspection cards must be turned in to the Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) and a new Form 1800 Daily Vehicle Inspection card put on the forklift.

Qualifications (Minimum education, experience, training, licensure, certification):

  • Must be a certified forklift driver or must become certified within sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Must have one year prior experience as a forklift driver OR 1 year material handling experience.
  • Must have HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
