Material Handler

Primary Responsibility:

Loads, unloads, and moves material within plant or work site by performing following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Performs purchase order and job receipts of material
2. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials received or issued with critical attention to detail and accuracy
3. Performs cycle counts on regular basis
4. Picks and issues material to jobs
5. Delivers backorders and materials to various departments
6. Loads and unloads materials from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
7. Prepares intercompany packing lists
8. Attaches identifying labels and/or tags or marks containers with identifying information
9. Knows, understands, and follows proper safety procedures
10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and verbally communicate information so others can understand
• Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, general problem-solving ability

• Long periods of standing; frequent walking
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasionally climbing ladders to heights of approximately 25 feet
• Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

• Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
• Exposure to high noise level
