The Shipping & Receiving Technician position receives all mail from University Central Mail, UPS, Federal Express, and other mail services for the University Libraries (UL). This position sorts and delivers mail to all sections and branches of the libraries. The Shipping & Receiving Technician also picks up and delivers all books that need to be sent among the various library main campus branches and departments. In addition, the position picks up and prepares outgoing mail for ILL and other library departments.Primary responsibilities include:* Receives, inspects, records, and logs deliveries from Central Mail, UPS, FedEx, and other mail services.* Collects and delivers mail, books, and other library materials throughout the library and its branches.* Checks invoices and/or shipping lists against shipments.* Contacts UL departments regarding shipments requiring special handling.* Sorts and forwards deliveries.* Accepts and signs for orders.* Prepares bills of lading and arranging for pickup of out-going shipments.* Maintains filing systems.* Assists with delivery of materials and moving/lifting of equipment.* Loads and/or unloads surplus equipment or furniture from incoming and outgoing shipments.* Prepares bulk mailings and assists with ordering of materials.* Ensures the security of the receiving and mailroom areas.* Maintains mailroom equipment and supplies including pallet jacks, dollies, carts, scales, and other equipment.* Performs related duties as assigned to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.Special Instructions to Applicants:Applicants must attach the following documents in pdf format:* Cover letter.* Resume.* List of 3 Professional References.Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, AND:* 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving.Skills:* Basic math and computer skills.* Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.* Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.* General office skills such as multi-line phone, copying, filing, faxing, and mail.* Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.* Ability to work independently.Certifications:* Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.Working Conditions:* Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motion. Lift weight up to 50 lbs. Frequent moving, pulling, and carrying of non-uniform objects.
