Sr. Plan Document Consultant, Technical Lead

We are excited to be hiring a Sr. Plan Document Consultant, Technical Lead, on our Retirement Plan Services Plan Document Team. As our business continues to grow and evolve, we are enhancing our plan document services to meet increasing demand and ensure continued excellence in retirement plan document compliance and service delivery.

In this role, you will bring deep subject matter expertise and a passion for mentoring others. You will support complex projects and initiatives, offering strategic guidance and technical leadership. As a trusted advisor, the Team Lead helps shape operational excellence by identifying process improvements, supporting change initiatives, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. You will also play a vital role in supporting management by offering coaching, feedback and training while also stepping in to handle departmental responsibilities as needed. What you'll be doing:

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert and trusted advisor for your area, providing direction on complex projects and initiatives
  • Provide coaching and mentoring of others, identifying development opportunities, and supporting performance growth
  • Collaborate with management on training needs, performance input, and team development
  • Identify and support the implementation of process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance
  • Support complex assignments and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Support training efforts, including new hire onboarding, refresher sessions, and procedural updates
  • Collaborates with management on staffing decisions, performance input, and workload balancing
  • Handles complex inquiries and providing clear and effective communication to internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintains a small but highly specialized workload, supporting broader team operations, and stepping in to support departmental needs
  • Stays current on industry trends, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to internal control assessments
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including pre- and post-sale consultations

You'll also be expected to:

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years in lieu of degree)
  • 5+ years of experience working with qualified retirement plan documents, plan design consulting, or related compliance role
  • Expertise in the rules and regulations governing 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) retirement plans
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and influence outcomes without direct authority
  • Experience with document generation systems (e.g., ASC, ftwilliam.com, Relius)
  • Experience supporting regulatory plan restatements and plan amendment cycles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • ASPPA or related industry designations such as QKA, QKC, and TGPC required

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in technical support, leadership, or a track record of mentoring and coaching
  • Familiarity with SS&C Chorus/AWD (Automated Work Distributor)

The pay range for this position is $93,300 - $169,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency, and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit, and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives, and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
