Description:

Oneida Professional Services (OPS) is actively seeking a highly motivated, full-time Biological Laboratory Technician in Oklahoma City, OK (this is an on-site position)

Location: Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI)
Aerospace Medical Research & Safety Assurance Division in Oklahoma City, OK

*This position is contingent on the award of a federal contract

Compensation: $25.00/Hour

Position Overview

The Biological Laboratory Technician supports the Forensic Sciences Section by assisting in the processing, preparation, documentation, and reporting of toxicology specimens in support of aviation safety investigations and research activities. The technician works under the direction of chemists and toxicologists to ensure accurate handling of biological materials, compliance with laboratory accreditation requirements, and timely reporting of toxicology findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and log incoming toxicology specimens (e.g., blood, urine, tissues) in accordance with chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Prepare biological samples for toxicological testing using established laboratory protocols.
  • Perform accurate data entry for toxicology batches, case files, and laboratory information systems.
  • Generate preliminary toxicology reports for scientific review and signature.
  • Distribute finalized toxicology reports to designated recipients in accordance with regulatory procedures.
  • Maintain, organize, and archive toxicology case files to ensure full traceability and audit readiness.
  • Scan and convert batch and case documentation for secure electronic storage.
  • Provide laboratory support to chemists and toxicologists during daily operations, testing, and research projects.
  • Assist with laboratory accreditation efforts (e.g., documentation, participation in audits, record maintenance).
  • Prepare specimen- or case-related paperwork for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) responses.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher with coursework in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience is required with an Associate's degree; no prior experience required with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with forensic/toxicology laboratory procedures preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow chain-of-custody and quality-assurance protocols.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment.
