Essential Function
 
Oversee the ongoing development and sustainability of programs designed to recruit, retain and place teachers in Oklahoma classrooms. Provide educational opportunities to high-need districts. Plan and conduct meetings associated with the aforementioned objectives, as well as coordinate necessary training for program initiatives. Perform frequent job-related travel as necessary, including some overnight travel.
Responsibilities and Duties
 Organize and coordinate the recruitment of Educators Rising, Teach Oklahoma and Lead Oklahoma sites. Serve as State Representative for Educators Rising.
 Perform outreach to business partners and community agencies. Assist various educational agencies to strengthen partnerships and further the reach/impact of the OTC in education.
 Promote OTC (Oklahoma Teacher Connection) services and programs. Oversee the development and implementation of services and programs designed to recruit, retain and place teachers in Oklahoma.
 Facilitate and monitor pre-collegiate and collegiate grant programs. Meet with public school principals, teachers and counselors to determine needs. Meet with university partners to explain best practices, rules and regulations regarding collegiate and pre-collegiate grant programs.
 Train teachers in Teach and Lead Oklahoma curricula and facilitate curriculum updates. Stay up-to-date on technology in order to effectively and efficiently train in group settings and over the Web.
 Assist as a liaison to the OTC to further teacher recruitment, retention and placement efforts in Oklahoma. Talk with students about the benefits of being a teacher.
 Coordinate, market and facilitate OTC pre-collegiate conferences.
 Attend meetings, conferences and other events on behalf of the OTC. Present at conferences and agency meetings upon request.
 Represent OTC for Associate Vice Chancellor for Teacher Preparation and Special Programs when requested.
 Assist in working with other OTC-sponsored conferences and events, including but not limited to facilitating the steering committee and annual Reading Conference, as well as the Teach, Lead and Educators Rising conference.
 Assist in the development of promotional material. Prepare content for web pages, create posters, and support the OTC Facebook activities.
 Provide resources and technical assistance as necessary.
 Manage, collect and analyze data from OTC recruitment, retention and placement programs.
 Compile reports that reflect the data collected from the OTC recruitment, retention and placement programs. Perform related research.
 Prepare agenda items for OSRHE board meetings.
 Assist in making budget decisions for grant programs.
 Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
 
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree or higher and three to five (5) years related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral skills and organizational skills. Ability to discern needs of public schools and their teachers. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability. Frequent travel, including some overnight travel for site visits and oversight of those funded by grants. Attend and/or present at work-related events in the evening.
Preferred Qualifications
 
Basic knowledge and understanding of the legislative process in regards to education initiatives and mandates. Basic knowledge about budget management.
Supervision
 
The employee performs work under the supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Teacher Preparation and Special Programs.
Work Hours
 Agency offices are open to the public from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. These are the normal office hours for Agency employees.
 
Physical Demands
 
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment; to use computer screen and printed material; to communicate clearly; and lift up to 25 pounds, to bend, stoop, and reach. Must use the proper manual handling equipment including but not limited to dollies, carts and lift team members. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.
