Essential Function
Responsible for the design, implementation, configuration and maintenance of systems for various OneNet services provided to OneNet subscribers and OSRHE. Provide technical support through the OneNet Technical Help Desk. Manage the operations of the OneNet datacenter and its supporting infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Lead the monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of datacenter infrastructure.
• Work with and monitor contractors for the scheduled maintenance and repair of cooling and electrical systems.
• Support subscribers with collocated equipment.
• Install, upgrade, and maintain Unix/Linux/Windows physical and virtual servers.
• Answer questions and problem solve issues for subscribers of OneNet services.
• Perform overnight and weekend on-call duties in a rotating schedule.
• Coordinate with and assist the OneNet Service Desk.
• Work with and assist OneNet network and systems engineers.
• Evaluate and test new software and technologies.
• Create, review, and update process and procedural documentation for all services.
• Other similar duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field or an equivalent combination of postsecondary education and related work experience is required. Candidate must possess a demonstrated technical proficiency in Unix/Linux systems design and deployment. Candidate must have fundamental knowledge of datacenter electrical and cooling technologies. A self-driven eagerness and capability to learn new technologies and gain additional skillsets is vital. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience in large Unix/Linux network environments. Experience supporting services such as DNS, email, web hosting and virtual infrastructure is preferred. Familiarity with various scripting languages including Bash, Python, and Perl. Working knowledge of the fundamentals of layer 2/3 networking. Experience with closed loop and phase change cooling systems. Experience with three phase power distribution and genset maintenance.
Supervision
The employee performs work under the supervision of the Director of Network Systems.
Work Hours
Agency offices are open to the public from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. These are the normal office hours for Agency employees.
Physical Demands
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Ability to use a computer screen and printed material, to communicate clearly, physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and to bend, stoop, and reach. Must use the proper manual handling equipment including but not limited to dollies, carts and lift team members. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.
