Wheelchair/Skycap - Wheelchair Agent plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and dignified travel experience for airline passengers requiring mobility assistance. This position requires professionalism, attentiveness, and the physical ability to assist passengers throughout airport terminals.
Responsibilities:
Safely escort and transport passengers requiring wheelchair assistance between gates, terminals, and other designated locations.
Remain alert to potential hazards to ensure the safety of passengers and others.
Provide courteous and professional assistance, including information, directions, and general customer support.
Maintain positive interaction with passengers, airline staff, and airport personnel.
Coordinate with dispatchers and gate agents to manage passenger flow and assignment accuracy.
Adhere strictly to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint screening requirements and procedures.
Accurately complete incident reports for accidents or unusual events.
Maintain wheelchair usage logs and documentation ("push logs").
Perform additional duties as directed by management.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, squat, stoop, push, and bend continuously throughout a shift.
Must be capable of lifting, carrying, or supporting passengers and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds or more.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent (required in some locations).
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Reliable transportation and an accessible, working telephone are required.
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
Must follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening (DOT or Non-DOT) and comply with ongoing random testing requirements.
Customer service experience preferred.
Appearance Standards:
Maintain a clean, professional, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
Comply with company-issued uniform standards.
Visible facial piercings are not permitted.
Tattoos must not be visible below the wrist or above the neckline.
